LIGHT LENS LAB M 35mm f/1.4 A.A. “Zhou A.A.” is a double-aspherical re-creation model inspired by the legendary M 35mm f/1.4 Aspherical (11873), widely known as the rare “AA (Double Aspherical)” lens produced in very limited numbers in the early 1990s.

An original sample was disassembled and precisely measured to pursue the optical formula, aberration characteristics, and mechanical construction in detail. Fine adjustments were then made for today’s high-resolution digital sensors—preserving the unique rendering style associated with the 11873, while making it more practical to use with modern equipment as a fast 35mm lens.

Respect for the original, optimized for modern sensors

Uses high-refractive, low-dispersion glass and faithfully recreates the legendary Double Aspherical concept. With high-precision molding and carefully polished aspherical elements, the lens is tuned for excellent image quality on current high-resolution cameras. Two aspherical elements and a design that controls chromatic aberration help deliver sharp results while reducing distortion and “smearing,” while maintaining the intended classic character.

Classic “taste” with modern usability

By intentionally leaving slight vignetting and field curvature near wide open, the lens adds natural depth and dimensionality. Its distinctive reflections can create a nuanced, atmospheric look—blending classic mood with crisp rendering on modern digital cameras.

The Titanium Limited Edition uses a titanium alloy barrel, offering a premium presence that pairs beautifully with camera bodies. Precision helicoid operation, a nicely-clicked aperture ring, knurled surfaces, and highly legible engravings provide a refined shooting experience and a special feel from the moment you hold it.
